I'm Laurel Layher, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Lighthouse Counseling Center. I started this work because of a girl I met as a teenager in a youth group, who said, "Just once I wish that I could say no when someone offered me drugs." That broke my heart. It still does. I became a counselor because I hate to see people in pain and alone with it. Since 1993 I've sat with people who feel trapped, voiceless, or unseen, and walked beside them toward freedom. My faith is part of how I understand healing. I believe we are made for connection, both with the people around us and with God, and that healing begins there. If you feel stuck, or like no one is really hearing you, I would count it a privilege to help you find your way back to freedom.
