The Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home and Cremation Service seeks compassionate, community professionals to join our team assisting during visitations, services, and gatherings on an as-needed basis, including days, evenings, and weekends. This role is essential to caring for families in our community who have experienced a loss.

Two positions: Family Assistant and Funeral Service Assistant
Key Responsibilities
• Accommodate and anticipate the needs of the client family while in our building
• Greet client families/guests arriving for services and appointments offering guidance as needed
• Maintain clean, stocked, and orderly public areas during and after gatherings
• Transport flowers to and from vehicles and other locations
• Assist at churches, cemeteries, or crematories
• Perform driving errands to pick-up/drop-off documents
• Oversee outdoor activities, organize vehicle processions, and direct traffic in all weather
• Safely, effectively, and respectfully load and transport human remains from location of death to funeral home
• Abide by safe lifting procedures/practices and comply with applicable transportation rules/laws
Required Qualifications:
• Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and professionalism in every interaction
• Communicate clearly and remain calm in dynamic situations
• Prioritize effectively and adapt appropriately as needs evolve
• Capability to stand for extended periods
• Maintain appropriate professional dress code and wear personal protective equipment as needed
• Practice basic computer and mobile device skills
• Able to receive/respond to text messages/calls from employer in a timely manner
• Be comfortable learning new equipment and technologies (e.g. casket lift, one-person mortuary cot, A/V equipment, etc.)
• Physical ability to move furniture and lift/maneuver caskets
• Physical ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. along with the ability to push/pull 200-250 lbs.
• Possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with an insurable driving record
