Bridging the Gap: Equity and Social Justice in Our Community

Bridging the Gap is an intensive seminar for people who seek to deepen their
commitment to promoting equity. Participants will practice the skills of interrupting prejudice
and learn how to become more effective allies. The seminar equips participants with the
analysis, skills, and tools needed to be more socially just.
Employing reading assignments, videos, group discussion, and structured exercises, we
explore the following topics and issues:

The four realms of oppression and change: personal, interpersonal, institutional, and cultural
Historical roots of inequity in the US
Racism, Classism, Sexism, and Cis-Heterosexism
How to be an effective ally
Practicing the skills of interrupting prejudice
Strategies for personal and community change
